October 24, 2012, Beaufort, S.C. – The South Carolina Art Education Association (SCAEA) has selected Beaufort, S.C., as the site for its annual professional development conference held in October 2013.
The three-day educational conference will be held at the University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) from October 18 to October 20. On average, 250 to 350 art educators gather each year for SCAEA’s conference.
“When it came to deciding on the location of our annual conference, the benefits of Beaufort were clear,” said Meg Skow, SCAEA president elect and conference chair. “The city offers us a waterfront setting rich in American history and Lowcountry cuisine. Plus, the community is also home to many artists and galleries. We know this is a destination our members will enjoy next year.”
“We’re excited to be chosen by the education organization to hosts its annual event,” said Dr. Charlie Calvert, tourism chairman for the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce. “We’ll be working closely together over the next year to ensure a successful and memorable event for SCAEA that will allow the attendees to experience all that Beaufort has to offer.”
SCAEA is an affiliate of the National Art Education Association (NAEA.) Its members include visual arts teachers, scholars, researchers and professors, students, administrators, art museum educators, retired art educators, non-art educators and artists.
