Beaufort, S.C. —
Beaufort’s Restaurant Week kicked off on Friday, drawing crowds to downtown Beaufort.
Nine restaurants are participating this year. The event not only draws in local customers, but brings people from across the region to Beaufort.
“The word's going to get up to Charleston, down to Savannah, hopefully as far as Columbia and Charlotte even,” said Chip Dinkins, Director of Operations for Plums Inc.
The city of Beaufort has been pushing for residents to shop and eat locally.
The Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce said the event attracts crucial business for downtown restaurants.
“Traditionally during the middle of September, it's been a slow time for restaurants in our area, so this restaurant week opens up an opportunity for them to fill their seats,” said Robb Wells, Vice President of Tourist for the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Restaurant week runs from September 9-18.
