Habersham Marketplace Announces Bottles & Barrels - June 14 & 15, 2014 - A Southern Living Inspired Event

Beaufort, SC, March 5, 2014 – Southern Living Magazine, Habersham Marketplace, and Plum Productions are excited to announce the first annual Bottles & Barrels event to be held June 14 & 15, 2014.  This event has three fun components; a wine & beer tasting, a live culinary competition, and jazz brunch.  Saturday, June 14, 12pm-4pm, features a tasting of boutique wines and craft beers and a “Cast Iron Chef” culinary competition. A traditional Southern Sunday Jazz Brunch will be held on June 15, 11am-2pm hosted by Southern Living Magazine’s test kitchen chef, Robby Melvin.

A Southern Living Inspired Event, Bottles & Barrels will feature 20 boutique wineries and 20 craft breweries. A tasting ticket can be purchased for $40 per person for unlimited beer and wine tastings. Several Southern Living Magazine sanctioned awards will be given to the best of the best!

The event will also include a culinary cook-off to spotlight six local top-tier chefs competing in the "Cast Iron Chef Competition."  This will be a fast and furious 30-minute timed competition with one common factor - the 2014 ingredient of the year must be used in all three presented dishes… and this year the ingredient is BACON! Chef Melvin will judge on presentation, use of ingredient of the year, and creativity. The winner is our official Southern Living “Cast Iron Chef 2014!” The chefs will then prepare small plates of their competition dish for 100 lucky VIP ticket holders to taste and enjoy. VIP tasting tickets will be $100 and include unlimited beer and wine tastings and all six chefs’ bacon-inspired tastings. Pre-order of these VIP tickets is highly recommended.

Bottles & Barrels continues Sunday, June 15, 2014, with a traditional Southern Sunday Jazz Brunch.  It will begin with croquet and cocktails on the grass at Le Chene Circle - be sure to wear your whites!  Experience the Lowcountry on high by taking a tethered ride in a gorgeous hot air balloon to see the Broad River and all the way to the Port Royal Sound.  Guests will then be led to their shaded seats in Habersham Marketplace for a full service Jazz brunch – southern style. The menu will be created with care by Southern Living Test Kitchen Chef Robby Melvin, and will feature our ingredient of the year – BACON – and locally sourced ingredients to create Southern favorites for this fun and formal event.

Full event details are listed and tickets can be pre-purchased beginning April 1 (highly recommended) on the event website:

The event is hosted by Habersham Marketplace and is produced by Plum Productions.
