A Foodie’s Guide to Beaufort, SC

Brunch

Lowcountry Produce Market & Café- A local favorite, Lowcountry Produce, is an old post office turned Market Café with a delicious selection of homemade goods made from local ingredients. You can go for breakfast, lunch or stop by and take one of their delicious tomato pies to go but our favorite time to grab a table is brunch. Not only will your stomach be pleased, but you’re Instagram feed will be, too.

Blackstone’s Café- A local staple in downtown Beaufort, Blackstone’s Café is a family restaurant serving breakfast and lunch. Check out their menus and you’ll be convinced immediately but just know, you can’t go wrong with shrimp ‘n’ grits.

Lunch

Shrimp Shack- This is the place where seafood lovers can discover a cute little roadside seafood shack in the Lowcountry. A trip to Beaufort and the Sea Islands is not complete until you’ve tried their shrimp burger but be warned, Shrimp Shack is a cash only establishment.

Plum’s- This Lowcountry favorite has been serving creative southern cuisine since 1986 all made from seasonal ingredients to produce local flavor. From fish tacos to fresh oysters and a mean Lowcountry boil, you can’t go wrong here.

Q on Bay- For some true southern cookin’, you’ll want to make a stop at Q on Bay (street) where you can have anything from BBQ, which was arguably invented in South Carolina, to wings and southern sides like hash & rice.

Snack Break

Common Ground Coffee House & Market Café- Whether you’re looking for a quick caffeine fix or tend to a sweet tooth craving, Common Ground is the perfect one stop shop for a gelato or quick snack.

Pluff Mudd Coffee Company- in need of a pick-me-up AND an outdoor activity? Grab your choice of caffeine and indulge in a pastry, then burn off the calories by renting a bike starting $5 an hour to $15 a day!

Beaufort Bread Company- are you a bread fanatic? You’ll love Beaufort Bread Company’s artisan and classical breads made with simple ingredients that produce deep flavor. But, their selection goes far beyond breads, they serve pastries and even breakfast, lunch and brunch!

Dinner

Saltus River Grill- For a sophisticated or romantic night out on the town, try Saltus on Beaufort’s Waterfront Park overlooking the inner coastal waters. Combine the lowcountry breeze with a refreshing drink and mouthwatering food = heart eye emojis for days.

Old Bull Tavern- located in the heart of Beaufort’s historic main street, try Old Bull Tavern for a night cap where they live by “it’s 5’oclock somewhere” and go till their guests go home.

Breakwater Restaurant & Bar- Expect to experience southern hospitality at its finest while tasting authentic southern cuisine, both old and new, at Breakwater.

Dessert

Southern Sweets Ice Cream Parlor & Sandwich Shop- the name says it all. Perfect for a quick stop while exploring the historic district.

Sunset Slush- indulge in one (or more) of 30 Italian ice flavors—guilt free!

Yo Yo’s Frozen Yogurt- Looking to cool off during the hot summer months? Stop by Yo Yo’s for soft-serve ice cream or frozen yogurt located right in downtown Beaufort.
