To Replace Out of State Driver's License and Pay Personal Property Tax on Vehicle
Take/have the following items with you when you go:
- Drivers License
- Birth Certificate
- Social Security Card
- Proof of Residency (anything with current mailing address)
- Car Insurance Policy (name and address of company, not the agent)
- Car Title (name and addresses of lien holders / if no lien it must be the original title)
- Car Registration
- Car Mileage
Go to the Government Building on US 21 (Boundary Street at Ribaut Road)
Go to the County Assessor’s Office to apply for Personal Property Tax Bill

Take Personal Property Tax Bill to County Treasurer’s office to pay

Take your paid Personal Property Tax Bill to the Department of Motor Vehicles office
(take Goethe Hill Road off Parris Island Gateway to Munch Drive)

- Fill out all appropriate forms before going to counter.
- They will keep your out of state driver’s license and car title.
- You will be issued a new South Carolina driver’s license on site.
- You will be issued a new South Carolina car title in the mail.
