To celebrate Beaufort’s long history as a premiere site of megafilms, the Beaufort Film Festival features up-and-coming talent in the film industry.
The star of the weekend is films.
Showings are all day Friday and Saturday.

Movie Screenings
With more than 100 entries from more than 24 countries worldwide ranging from Cambodiato Russia, 21 film finalists have been chosen for competition in the 2009 Beaufort International Film Festival.
“This is definitely the best slate of finalists we have ever had, I am very proud of the offerings. Our finalists represent the finest in filmmaking talent" says Film Festival Director Ron Tucker.
The Beaufort International Film Festival features up-and-coming filmmakers.
The schedule for film showings are as follows at the Lady's Island Cinema:
Friday - 9:30 a.m.until 8:30 p.m. -

Prices for movies are $5 a film or $20 for a weekend screening pass.

Awards Gala
The Awards Gala will feature the awards presentation to the winners of the feature, short, documentary, student and screenwriting films.
Following the award for best pictures, there will be a special presentation of the Ribaut Excellence in Acting Award to special guest honoree Tom Berenger. Tom Berenger stared in many films, including "The Big Chill", "Major League I", "Major League II", "The Substitute", and many more.
Music for the evening is provided by Donald Lehman.
The awards gala will be held at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Ballroom (2225 Boundary Street).

Masters behind the Movie Magic and Panel Discussion with Q&A
Behind the scenes experts make what you see on the screen possible. Come join this accomplished group of local residents for a panel discussion on how they make the magic happen.
Panel discussion will include a Q&A session.
Jim Passanante – set construction coordinator “New Daughter” and “The Last Brickmaker.”
He first came to Beaufort when working on “Forrest Gump” and “Midnightin the Gardenof Goodand Evil.”
Suzanna Glattly – scenic artist “Wedding Crashers,” Syrianna,” and “Runaway Bride.”
Mike Hudson – special effects “Idlewild” and “Strike the Tent.”
Brooke Brunson – set director “John Adams”, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” “Army Wives.”
Lillian Heyward – graphic designer “the Notebook,” “Forces of Nature,” “Death Sentence,” “Dear John” and sign writer on “Talledega Nights.”

Animation Screening and Workshop with Larry Lauria
Larry Lauria brings his expertise to one of the most delightful area of the film industry – animation.
Lauria has had a career in animation and direction spanning more than 24 years and includes features, commercial television, industrial and interactive projects.
Lauria has garnered over 40 national and international awards.
The workshop will take place at ARTworks ( 2117 Boundary Street). Tickets are $25 and may be purchased hereor by calling 843-379-2787.
Concert
Renowned Jazz Artist MaryLouise and Pianist Doug Carn will be playing on Friday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m.at ARTworks (2117 Boundary Street). Born in
New York City , MaryLouise started singing at the age of 5 and made her debut at Carnegie Hall at the age of 10. Embarking upon her professional singing career at the age of 12, she joined the female group “The Hearts.”
She is currently working with Doug Carn and his Big Band and also with Skip Pearson and his band out of
Columbia,

Guild of the Beaufort Galleries
Featuring 12 downtown galleries, Enjoy the original work of more than 500 artists, all within walking distance of historic Beaufort.

Thursday, March 5 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Friday, March 6 – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday, March 7 – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sunday March 8 – 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A special Open House presentation of ARTwalk is scheduled on Saturday, March 7 from 4:00to 6:00 p.m.The event features special openings and exhibits, artists’ talks, street performers, and more. This is free of charge.
Beaufort Film Site Tours
Local film expert Ginnie Kozak will provide tours of downtown movie sites where famous films like “The Big Chill” and “Prince of Tides” have been shot along with many others.
Tour hours include:
Saturday, March 7 – 10 a.m., 11 a.m.and 1 p.m.
Sunday March 8 – 11:30 a.m.
All tours originate at the front of the Beaufort Performing Arts Center (801 Carteret Street) and will take approximately 45 minutes.
