Growth & Infrastructure

Growth & Infrastructure Committee

The quality of life in the area is the most marketable asset Beaufort County has. The area receives accolade after accolade for its beauty, it access to outdoor activities, its historic preservation and its overall charm. To sustain what we have, community leaders must manage growth in such a way that the economy grows and sustains what we have but doesn't choke out the very essence of what makes our corner of the world so special.

The Chamber's legislative philosophy focuses on four areas:
  • Maintain and grow business opportunities in Beaufort County.
  • Reduces the cost of doing business.
  • Manage growth and supports infrastructure improvements so that the marketability of the area is not threatened.
  • Increase the qualified workforce.
To better assess and evaluate issues going on with growth and infrastructure, the Chamber established a new committee, the growth and infrastructure committee, in January 2008. The mission of the committee is to affect policy and provide educational opportunities on managing growth issues so that the marketability of the area is not threatened, including but not limited to, concerns about infrastructure improvements and availability of workforce housing.

This committee is currently reviewing pressing issues surrounding growth and is planning forums to educate the public on these important concerns.

The committee meets the second Thursday of every month, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., at Blackstone's.  Please note there is a cash only policy.
