Woods Memorial Bridge

35. Woods Memorial Bridge

Famous for its appearance in the movie Forrest Gump and one of Beaufort’s most notable landmarks, Woods Memorial Bridge is the perfect place for a run or a jog any time of day. This beautiful bridge overlooks the waterfront park. Named after a highway patrol officer, Richard Woods, who was killed in the line of duty in 1969, Woods Memorial Bridge is one of only nine moveable bridges left in South Carolina. Enjoy the soaring coastal birds, breathe in the salty sea air and watch as boats travel back and forth as you cross over this beautiful landmark.
