29. Shrimp and Grits at a local restaurant
In the Low Country of South Carolina, shrimp and grits originated years ago as breakfast for coastal fishermen and their families. Known as "breakfast shrimp," the dish consisted of a pot of grits with shrimp cooked in a little butter or bacon grease. Over the past decade, this dish has become a refined staple southern dish, dressed up and served in the best restaurants. It is served for brunch, lunch, and dinner and can be found at pretty much any one of Beaufort’s local restaurants.
