7. Historical Church Self-Guided Tour

A vital element of Beaufort’s wealth of cultural history, her beautiful, historic churches are definitely worth visiting. Each church has its own unique story and role in Beaufort’s past. A few prominent, not-to-be-missed churches are the First African Baptist Church, the Baptist Church of Beaufort, St. Helena’s Episcopal Church, and St. Peter’s Catholic Church. A detailed map is available at the Beaufort Visitors Center, located at 713 Craven Street in the Arsenal Building.
